A historic boutique escape in Mexico City

Mexico City remains one of the world’s most important centres for business, culture, and innovation and travellers now have a distinctive new accommodation option in one of its most desirable neighbourhoods. Kimpton El Castelar, the newest addition to IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has opened in Polanquito, a vibrant district known for its walkability, dining scene and proximity to key attractions.

The 34-room boutique hotel occupies the historic Roel Building, originally opened in 1940 and designed by acclaimed architect Francisco J. Serrano during the Mexican Art Nouveau period. Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, the property is just steps from Masaryk Avenue, Auditorio Nacional, Chapultepec Castle and the National Museum of Anthropology.

Combining architectural character with Kimpton’s signature boutique hospitality, the hotel delivers an intimate and elevated experience that stands apart from larger properties. For travellers seeking a stay that blends convenience, culture and personalised service, Kimpton El Castelar offers a memorable home base in one of Latin America’s most dynamic cities.

Ruby Hotels makes its Swedish debut

Stockholm’s reputation as a global centre for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship continues to attract business travellers from around the world. Now, visitors to the Swedish capital can experience a fresh hospitality concept with the opening of Ruby Frida, the brand’s first hotel in Sweden.

Located in the lively district of Kungsholmen near Fridhemsplan, the 187-room property brings Ruby Hotels’ design-led approach to one of the city’s fastest-evolving neighborhoods. Inspired by Stockholm’s rich musical heritage and the creative spirit of the swinging sixties, the hotel reflects the city’s vibrant cultural identity while delivering the streamlined amenities modern travellers value.

Ruby Frida’s character-rich interiors are complemented by dynamic social spaces designed for both work and connection. A 24-hour venue serving cocktails and barista-crafted coffee ensures guests have a welcoming environment throughout the day, whether preparing for meetings or unwinding after a busy schedule. The hotel’s efficient, guest-focused experience makes it an appealing option for travellers looking to stay connected in one of Scandinavia’s most exciting urban destinations.

InterContinental elevates luxury in Türkiye’s capital

IHG’s luxury portfolio continues to expand with the opening of InterContinental Grand Ankara, a landmark property marking a new chapter for hospitality in Türkiye’s capital city.

Originally opened in 1966 as The Grand Ankara Hotel, the reimagined property now joins InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand. The transformation reflects the brand’s ongoing evolution and commitment to creating sophisticated travel experiences that balance global standards with local authenticity.

InterContinental has long been recognised for introducing travellers to emerging and established destinations across the globe, and the addition of Grand Ankara continues that legacy. The property embraces the brand’s philosophy that travel broadens perspectives and fosters meaningful cultural connections, while providing the comfort, familiarity and elevated service expected by today’s luxury traveller.

For business travellers whose itineraries call for premium accommodations, InterContinental Grand Ankara offers a refined option in a city that serves as an important political, economic and diplomatic centre.

Continued momentum across Canada

IHG’s growth story extends well beyond individual openings. In Canada, the company recently celebrated a significant milestone, surpassing 200 open hotels across the country. The achievement highlights IHG’s continued investment in one of its most important global markets and reflects growing demand for trusted accommodations across a variety of travel needs.

Among the recent additions is Crowne Plaza Toronto – North York, which strengthens the brand’s presence in one of Canada’s largest metropolitan areas and key business destinations. The opening reinforces Crowne Plaza’s long-standing reputation for providing thoughtful amenities, comfortable accommodations and convenient access for business travellers.

Looking ahead, IHG’s Canadian portfolio is poised for even greater expansion, with nearly 40 hotels currently in the development pipeline. Additional openings planned this year include Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites properties in Barrie, Aurora East, Pembroke, and Woodstock. These projects will build on the momentum established by the seven hotels that opened across Canada in 2025.

More options across more destinations

As organisations continue to prioritise productive travel experiences, hotel selection remains an important consideration. IHG’s newest openings showcase the breadth of the company’s portfolio, offering travellers everything from boutique luxury and lifestyle experiences to globally recognised premium accommodations. Whether business takes travellers to Mexico City, Stockholm, Ankara, Toronto, or beyond, these additions provide new opportunities to stay connected, comfortable and productive while on the road.
