Supporting our South Africa conference choir

An update from South Africa where the Makupula school choir, who welcomed us to Boschendal, have been taking part in a prestigious competition.

Thanks to the generosity of the One Global Community as well as The Concepts Collection – who helped organise June’s community event – the school were able to head to the Grand Final in Johannesburg after winning the regional heats of the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod in Cape Town.

Although putting in a great performance the school didn’t win. Some of the individuals from the school also performed brilliantly in the solo sections but were unsuccessful.

However, just being at the final was a success. For some of the children, it was the first time they had travelled far, never mind flying and stopping in hotels.

“The One Global Community were so moved by the choir performing at their recent conference that they joined us in funding the choir’s journey to the national finals. It’s an amazing success story, and one that the children so richly deserve.”
